Text Box: Hey folks. This year is going to be a good one for Chippewa Valley disc golf; if we can ever get it started. The recent snow has slowed us down a bit but has not deterred our progress. We are planning to put the baskets in, and have a general meeting, at Tower Ridge on Saturday April 2nd. Everyone should plan on meeting at 9:00 a.m. in the main parking lot. However, this is a tentative date and is subject to the weather. Be prepared to push that date back by a day, or a week. We are at the whims of the great weather god good people; may he shine upon us.
The layout for the new 18 hole course at Tower Ridge has been finalized and I think everyone will be pleased. There should be plenty of fun for everyone. If you thought the old course was challenging, wait till you give the new one a try. The organization is still trying to raise enough funds to get this course in the ground and we appreciate any donations and all help that is offered. We thank all those who have dedicated time and support for this project. With enough help from everyone we should have another 18 hole course in the ground this summer. I will take this time to plead with everyone to lend their support. It would be a great thing for us all to see 36 holes out at Tower.
I invite all of you to sign up for the Chippewa Valley Disc Golf Challenge (CVDGC). The CVDGC is a combination of tournaments between Tower Ridge Open and Wakanda Park Open. These two tournaments will be held on April 16-17. All participants can pre-register on the CVDGO Web site at www.chippewavalleydiscgolf.org. This is a great way to save a few bucks and join in the fun of both tournaments. If you don’t want to participate in both; I still encourage you to sign up for one or the other, both should be fun and have
promising turnouts. These two tournaments are for both the beginner and advanced player, with levels that should please all. I encourage you to come out and try your skills with some fellow frolfers.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have put in your hard work and man hours to make disc golf what it is in this community. Namely, Don Ticknor, Jack Mickelson, Bob “Uncle Bob” Gappa, Jeff Stumm, Larry Ader, Tom Field, Chad Winrich, all CVDGO members and everyone who has dedicated time and effort. If it weren’t for these folks’ hard work, none of us would be able to enjoy the level of play we have in the area. I think we should all let our thanks be known.
If you have any questions or concerns about these matters, or if you would like to sponsor your time or money, I invite you to contact me with questions or comments by phone or e-mail.
